I Skipped the Epic Warning

I will never forget. I was a new grad and one of my coworkers was in the weeds. He asked me to give his patient some morphine. I can’t remember if they were there for appendicitis or post op or what but she was an older lady. I said “how much do I give?” and he said “the whole thing”. So I pulled the 2mg dilaudid, scanned it, and noticed the order was for 0.5. I believe. I skipped past it all because my coworker said, give the whole thing! So later when he realized what I had done he freaked out and was checking on the patient like every hour getting her vitals and whatnot. She slept REAALLY good that night and he never asked for a favor from me again.
